I have always loved art, as it lets me express myself in a way that I can't always do orally. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to photography at a young age, as my junior high had a darkroom and offered two black and white 35mm film courses. I continued to take photography, and other art classes, throughout my time in high school. This exposure fostered my love for photography, and the passion I developed led me to attend the University of Kansas where I studied photography. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photo Media in May 2012.
In my time at KU as my skill set grew, so did my personal vision of my work. I was learning to use, not only single images, but series of images, to create a feeling, a mood, a story. The ability to capture and show that within an image, or group of images, is what intrigues me the most when creating photographs. I always strive for this, and think it is possibly the most important element of a photograph.
